This program is designed for students who have chosen to pursue a career as a professional nurse. The purpose of the bachelor’s degree nursing program at Davenport University is to prepare the graduate with the skill and knowledge necessary to function in the role of the professional nurse through the use of critical thinking, advanced assessment skills, communication, collaborating practices, applied research, self-directed learning, leadership and management skills, systems thinking, and professional development. This program prepares graduates for nursing practice across the continuum of care and in communities.
Program seats are limited and entry is competitive. Students are admitted to the program based on their cumulative GPA, TEAS scores, professional recommendations, and a personal essay. Students who meet admissions criteria will be provisionally admitted to the program pending completion of the Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Drug Screen (DS).
*A grade of C+ or better is required for successful completion of all BIOL and CHEM courses required in the nursing program.
*Upon acceptance of a nursing seat, the following courses within the Nursing Pre-Licensure BSN program are required to be completed at Davenport University (BIOL110/110L, BIOL221/221L, BIOL222/222L, BIOL211/211L, BIOL312, CHEM150/150L). Credits for required biology courses will not be transferred after nursing seat acceptance.
*Nursing Pre-Licensure BSN students may take online offerings with permission of the Nursing Department.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree requirements must be met based on the catalog year of acceptance to the BSN Nursing Pre-Licensure program.

The Strategic Management Concentration focuses on strategic decision-making skills essential to corporate success in both the private and public sectors. Students examine the analysis and implementation of strategy while integrating key leadership characteristics necessary for success as business leaders.
This program targets individuals who desire an advanced understanding of and expertise in managing strategic processes while integrating the key leadership strategies necessary for individual and corporate growth and development. These skills are integrated through four interdisciplinary approaches — global, ethical, quality, and humanistic — using case analysis and interactive technologies.
Students who want to take the Certified Professional Manager (CM) exams from the Institute of Certified Professional Managers (ICPM) should enroll in MGMT699 as part of DU’s MBA Strategic Management Concentration.
In addition, students who want to sit for the Certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification exam developed and conducted by the Project Management Institute (PMI®) should complete GPMT699 as one of their course options in this concentration.

Davenport University’s 39 credit MBA program is designed for those early in their business careers and entrepreneurial endeavors, and those mid to senior-level managers looking to sharpen their professional skills. The student will complete a set of core requirements prior to proceeding to concentration courses.
Foundations of Business Requirements
All students admitted into any Davenport University MBA program are expected to have the necessary business foundations prior to entering the 600-level courses. Students without an earned grade of B or better within the last eight years in undergraduate course work in the areas of accounting, finance, management, marketing and statistics will be required to take these foundational business (500-level) courses. These courses are not included in the credits required for degree completion.

Practical Nursing
Practical Nursing (NURS DIPL)

The practical nursing program at Davenport University is approved by the Michigan Board of Nursing and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. The Practical Nursing program is designed to prepare the graduate at the diploma level with the skill and knowledge necessary to function in the role of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The LPN uses the nursing process to meet the needs of patients in all age groupings. The LPN graduate will also use effective communication with members of the health care team, provide appropriate health teaching and serve as an advocate for both patient and families.
Upon acceptance of a nursing seat, the following courses within the Practical Nurse Diploma program are required to be completed at Davenport University (BIOL115, BIOL116). Credits for required biology courses will not be transferred after nursing seat acceptance.
*A grade of C+ or better is required for successful completion of all BIOL courses. Students who may eventually wish to submit an application to the BSN Pre-Licensure program are strongly encouraged to complete BIOL221 3 credits, BIOL221L 1 credit, BIOL222 3 credits and BIOL222L 1 credit instead of BIOL115 and BIOL116. You will also be required to complete BIOL110 3 credits and BIOL110L 1 credit which are the prerequisites to BIOL221/BIOL221L.
The Practical Nursing degree requirements must be met based on the catalog year of acceptance to the nursing program.
It is recommended that students take a Medical terminology class in preparation for acceptance to the Practical Nursing program.
The Department of Education requires Davenport University to provide certain information (Gainful Employment Disclosure) regarding this diploma program to aid students in making a decision to enroll.
